- Who are we and how does the PAFEA program work?
PAFEA is a non-profit
organization committed to providing high-quality, affordable French
language educational programs to supplement the public school
system curriculum. PAFEA currently offers after-school French classes at
the German American International School,
275
Elliott Drive, in Menlo Park for
children in Kindergarten through 6th grades. The PAFEA after-school program supplements the public school system
curriculum with French language arts classes.
- CNED-based Classes:
The PAFEA program follows the CNED (Centre National
d’Enseignement à Distance) curriculum. This is the French
National Education program for francophone students enrolled in the
public schools. This curriculum is provided by the French Ministry of
National Education and is designed to ensure that children learn French
language arts at the same pace as their counterparts in France.
All PAFEA classes are taught by qualified French
language instructors. The student-teacher ratio does not exceed 7:1. Please
note that the PAFEA program is not
limited to residents of Palo Alto and is open to all children.
-
Kindergarten through sixth grade classes meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
for a total of four hours per week (about 140 hours of class time
per year).*
Classes are
not held on national holidays, staff development days or during PAUSD school district closures. See
